Southampton duo Ché Adams and Stuart Armstrong helped Scotland to an important Nations League victory over Ukraine at Hampden Park on Wednesday night.

With the opportunity to leapfrog Ukraine into top spot in Group B1, a second half goal from Aston Villa’s John McGinn and brace from QPR’s Lyndon Dykes earned Steve Clarke’s side a 3-0 victory.

Looking to make amends for the World Cup play-off semi-final defeat to the same opposition back in June, Armstrong and Adams were at the thick of it for Scotland, with the midfielder denied twice by keeper Anatoliy Trubin and the striker hitting the crossbar in the search for an opener.

Following the eventual opener from McGinn on 70 minutes, the Saints duo were withdrawn on 77 minutes before substitute Dykes confirmed the three points.

Elsewhere, teenager Sam Edozie marked his first start for England Under-20s in style, netting 61 minutes into his debut for the Young Lions in a 3-0 friendly win over Chile.
