The young Saints hit perfect form as their Group F exploits kicked off with a 2-1 win on the road against Premier League 2 Division One side, Everton, as Jimmy-Jay Morgan hit a second-half brace against the Toffees.

Morgan and his teammates then turned on the style with a dominant 4-0 win over Birmingham at Staplewood, as the in-form young forward hit a hat-trick alongside a stunning free-kick from Kamari Doyle.

A double header with Colchester United followed, with two high-scoring victories that all-but-confirmed their progress.

Then, a rotated side beat the U's 7-1 at St Mary's Stadium as Sam Bellis grabbed a first half hat-trick, Will Merry scored a brace of his own, and Pearce was joined on the scoresheet by 15-year-old Jay Robinson.
