With the international break putting a pause on top division action, Southampton’s lower league loanees still had a busy schedule with several young stars continuing their progress during Non-League Day. This and more in the latest Loan Watch…
The standout performances came between the sticks as Jack Bycroft kept back-to-back away clean sheets in an impressive week for Taunton Town in the National League South.
Bycroft went 180 minutes without conceding as the Peacocks won 1-0 against Welling United on Tuesday evening, and followed that up with a 2-0 victory over fifth-placed Braintree Town on Saturday.
On the other end of the weekend's result was fellow B team star Jack Turner, who played just under an hour for Braintree in his side’s defeat.
Elsewhere in the division, Luke Pearce played 76 minutes for Eastbourne Borough in a 1-1 draw against Chippenham Town; Saints' striker was a key part in the move that won his side’s penalty to open the scoring.
Up a division in the National League, Nico Lawrence continued his development with another full 90 minutes for Torquay United but was on the wrong end of a last-gasp goal in a 2-1 defeat against Dagenham & Redbridge.
Finally, in the EFL, Dynel Simeu and Caleb Watts both featured for Morecambe as they were also on the wrong end of a narrow defeat.
Simeu played the full game, whilst Watts made a substitute cameo on the road against MK Dons.
